IMMO is creating an ecosystem for immersive learning in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Universities of applied sciences, vocational schools, schools and daycare facilities will serve as development and testing platforms within the cluster.
The aim is to create an immersive learning ecosystem that transcends city boundaries in Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa in collaboration with technology companies and education providers.
The project’s experts will develop a mobile immersive simulation learning environment and related software to support vocational education in collaboration with technology companies and service providers. In addition, three innovation challenges and several smaller experiments will be carried out in collaboration.

Collaboration with companies
IMMO is providing edtech and simulation companies with a new platform for product development, piloting and networking. The three innovation challenges involve companies from the circular economy, travel and service industries. Companies get to test their solutions in vocational institutions, schools and daycare facilities around the Helsinki metropolitan area.
Innovation challenges and piloting
The IMMO project involves three major innovation challenges. Themes for these challenges are dismantling intact, tourism and customer service. These challenges will focus on scalable learning technology solutions. Companies and experts will create new simulation content for construction, tourism and service sectors.
The project will also implement several smaller pilots.
To support the cooperation between tech companies and educational institutions, the project will also develop a portable immersive simulation learning environment along with supporting software and content for vocational education.
