Sharing Space: User Perspectives from a startup and coworking environment

Shared spaces are an important resource in startup and coworking environments for outcomes such as collaboration, networking, wellbeing, and inspiration. Yet, it is not enough to simply provide shared space, but the space should also be well-utilized and provide value to the users by fulfilling their needs.

Sharing of learning spaces: A focus on the learning space allocation process

The sharing of learning spaces has become an increasingly important topic in higher education. Learning spaces such as classrooms, labs, and seminar rooms are critical resources that shape how teaching and learning take place. Enhancing the sharing of learning spaces can improve overall space utilization and ensure that learning spaces better support users. JAVIST project (Jakamisella viisautta / Resourceful sharing) aims to foster co-usable learning and innovation environments.  The project partners are Aalto University, Aalto Campus & Real Estate, University of Helsinki, and City of Helsinki.

JAVIST Project Helps Teachers Discover and Use Campus Learning Spaces

Sharing resources on campus is a key part of making university facilities more sustainable and effective. By sharing what we have, everyone benefits from better, more flexible teaching spaces and services. However, for sharing to work well, teachers and staff first need to be aware of what’s available.

Meeting rooms are a common example of shared space in office and university settings and thus have been identified as an area of opportunity for resource efficiency improvements.

Kampuskokemus kehittämisen keskiössä

Aalto-yliopiston ja ACREn toteuttamaa vuosittaista kampuskyselyä kehitettiin tänä vuonna JAVIST-hankkeen myötä käyttäjäystävällisemmäksi sekä painottamalla kyselyä niihin tekijöihin, joihin ACREssa voidaan eniten vaikuttaa. Saatujen tulosten perusteella kampuksella voidaan tehdä kampuskokemusta parantavia muutoksia.

Yhteistä kampusta kehittämässä

ACREn (Aalto University Campus & Real Estate) Aalto-yliopistolle toteuttamaa henkilöstölle ja opiskelijoille suunnattua kampuskyselyä muokattiin tänä vuonna yhteiskehittelyn menetelmin. Tiivistettynä kampuskyselyssä pureudutaan siihen, miten tilat voisivat tukea parhaiten kampuksella työskentelyä tai opiskelua.
